Jiuquan Mayor Tang Peihong and his delegation visited WONTAI POWER's Wuyishan Vanadium mine in Dunhuang and its equipment plant in Guazhou

On October 8, Mayor Tang Peihong and his delegation came to the Wuyishan Vanadium Mine in Dunhuang to inspect the development progress of the vanadium mine project, and to have a detailed understanding of the comprehensive situation of the project progress, formalities, vanadium mining, processing and technological process.

In January 2022, Shanghai WONTAI Green Vanadium Technology Co., LTD., a subsidiary of WONTAI, won the detailed exploration right of Dunhuang Wuyishan Vanadium mine with 181 million yuan. The mining area of the mine is 36.7359 square kilometers, and the reserves are expected to reach medium-scale.

Since June of this year, WONTAI has begun a full geological survey of the vanadium mine. After trusseting, drilling, hydrologic drilling and mapping, the field geological survey is now in the final phase.

The engineering team has a maximum of 200 people working in the mine at the same time. Because the vanadium mine is located in the wilderness, most of the workers set up tents on the mine. The harsh local conditions, harsh climate and extreme temperature difference between day and night all affected the operation of the engineering team. In addition, supplies are difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic, and workers need to travel 200 kilometers to buy supplies. In the face of numerous obstacles, the engineering team always sticks to its post and overcome difficulties to ensure the project programme.

The project leader also explained the latest technology of WONTAI vanadium mineral products to the delegation, and said that we will continue to give full play to our professional advantages in industrial collaboration, scientific and technological innovation, achievement transformation and other aspects, improve the layout of the whole industrial chain in Jiuquan, participate in the construction of clean energy facilities in the Hexi Corridor, and help the goal of "carbon peak & carbon neutrality" to be realized as soon as possible.

On October 9, the delegation once again visited WONTAI's 300MW vanadium flow battery equipment plant in Guazhou for investigation. Since the construction of the project started on April 10, it has entered the intensive construction phase. The factory project mainly includes the construction of comprehensive building and production workshop. At present, the construction of the framework of the comprehensive building is completed, and the work of building walls is in progress. The plant infrastructure has been completed and trial production is expected to begin in late December.

In Guazhou, the temperature drops faster in winter. Mayor Tang is concerned about whether the weather changes will affect the construction of the project. In response, the project manager said that although the low temperature has an impact on the concrete work, the masonry and frame concrete works of the project will be completed in October, and the main equipment installation work will be carried out in November. The weather will not affect the progress of the project.

Mr Tang, speaking on behalf of the Jiuquan city government, said the local government would help the company develop, giving WONTAI as much support as possible in the area. He encouraged WONTAI's colleagues to have the confidence to bring energy storage products to market as soon as possible and develop into pillar companies in the industry as soon as possible.
